If you've lived along the Front Range for more than a season, you've probably had at least one close call with hail — or one very expensive one. Monument, Palmer Lake, and Colorado Springs all sit inside one of the most hail-prone corridors in the country.
We get asked this a lot: does ceramic coating prevent hail dents? No — coating protects the clear coat and paint from chemical and UV damage, not the metal panel underneath from denting. What it can do is protect already-stressed paint from cracking or chipping around the edges of hail impacts, and it makes any necessary paint correction afterward easier and more effective.
Covered parking, even partial. A carport, garage, or even a tree canopy can be the difference between a clean car and a hail claim. If you don't have covered parking, a hail-rated car cover kept in the trunk during storm season (typically May–August in Colorado) is a low-cost insurance policy.
Paying attention to weather alerts. Front Range hailstorms often build fast in the afternoon. A five-minute warning is usually enough time to get a vehicle under cover if you're paying attention to the forecast during summer months.
Keeping paint in good condition beforehand. Paint that's already oxidized or has existing chips is more prone to further damage during an impact. Regular detailing and a maintained ceramic coating keep the clear coat at its strongest, which matters more than people expect when hail does hit.
